The buck and I met on Sulphur Mountain road this morning…
We met head-to-head on a curve. The deer stopped for maybe a second on the trail, but then continued towards me and sidestepped around me. He stopped briefly to give me a snap. The only time he moved faster than a walk is when he headed up the slope adjacent to the trail. I spotted 3 coyotes as well as kestrels on my ride back down the mountain. It’s the most wildlife activity that I have seen in a while. The August heat continued into September and today was the first normal temperature day.
