I spotted a coyote’s tail wagging

The other day was the first time I saw a coyote wagging its tail. There were three coyotes together and they got separated when I showed up. One dove off the trail into tall grassy weeds and two cut off the trail onto a cattle path. The two waited for the trailblazer to catch up to them and the coyote on the left, while watching and waiting, was wagging its tail. I don’t know how common it is for a coyote to wag its tail. I think the three coyotes are a family and the one on the right was an adult and the one wagging its tail was waiting for its sibling to emerge from the thick and tall grass.
