Great horned owl pair return

This morning a pair of owls were actively hooting in the vicinity of my backyard. I spotted one on a utility pole, looking intently in the direction of their palm tree. I assume the other owl was in the palm tree. Usually crows gather in numbers and start pestering immediately when an apex predator is in their sights. But the crows were slow to react, maybe caught off guard, this morning. Last year the owls didn’t return to their old nest. Maybe this year?
