Identified the male this evening

The owl hen took her time on meeting the male this evening, and I was able to ID him. He has a recognizable right eye. He is the second half of the adult pair that was here two years ago. Great horned owls are monogamous and I assume the hen was here two years ago, too. I think once their egg clutch arrives I will be able to verify if she was the hen two years ago by her behavior. It was more common than not that when the male arrived with the evening catch she would pounce on him during the exchange. Feeding time for her was exciting. I have gone to watch them every other evening this week and their routine differed slightly this evening from the previous evenings. The hen would meet him immediately and they would make owl eggs. Tonight, she took her time leaving the nest and during that time I was able to id the male.
